🐞🐛 Last week was National Insect Week and the children in Groovy Galaxies have been looking at some insects they found in the natural area of the garden. 🐝🐜

They talked about being kind to insects and how to handle or touch them, they also came up with ideas of where they live and what they might like to eat.

Staff spoke about not touching the bumble bee as it could sting us, they looked at it as it sat on the blossom tree.

The children then carried the bug theme inside by setting out the toy insect and holes for them. They used magnifying glasses to look more closely at the insects.

🐠🐟Under the sea 🐡🐳

In shooting Stars at Newnham Court the babies have been interested in the book 'Tiddler'

🦈🦐They enjoy looking and pointing at all of the different fish and sea creatures they could find!
We took their interest and decided to paint/stick some under the sea creatures including fishes, puffer fish, starfishes and Jellyfish.🐟🐡

We then created some seaweed using bubble wrap to make marks. The babies also enjoyed exploring some blue coloured gloop with sea animals in
'Ooh' some of them said as they felt it in their hands.

The under-the-sea display looks fabulous!

Last week in Sunflowers 🌻 at Mark Cross the children found a large log in the garden and explored using the claw hammer 🔨

They enjoyed hitting the nails into the log and then working out how to use the hammer to retrieve the nail from the log.

This was a great activity focusing on hand eye coordination and learning new ways to do things.

The children show great understanding of wearing our safety googles and using the hammer independently.
