 Our 46 place nursery was graded by Ofsted as ‘outstanding in all areas’ in March 2008. The excellent outcome placed us among just 1% of settings with this accolade nationally.
Located in a detached property on the edge of the North Downs; an area of outstanding natural beauty Pennies Hockers Lane is the perfect balance of quiet rural surroundings with the convenience of swift access to main routes, such as the M20.
149 Hockers Lane is our ‘cottage style,’ nursery, which first opened in 1998. At that time the setting only cared for only a handful of children and employed a small number of staff. Since then there have been a number of changes including new rooms making it possible to cater for larger numbers of children aged from three months to five years. More recently the nursery underwent a refurbishment of all rooms and parents have been actively involved in upgrading the garden and outdoor play areas. Our garden comprises a lovely large grass area, enclosed, secure play ground with a range of large apparatus, sand pit, a hard standing area with a ‘road’ for bikes and a sheltered baby area. Outdoor area is secure and surrounded by large trees that provide plenty of shade in the summer. This allows the children to access outdoor opportunities in safety all year round.
Highly dedicated and friendly staff, many with over seven year’s experience, work as part of the Pennies team in a warm and homely environment.
Within our comfortable nursery we have four rooms to accommodate our children from babies and toddlers through to pre-school. Adjoining doors allow the different ages to be able to come together easily at certain times of day and enables the children and carers to become familiar with one another. Parents and staff also find that this helps to ensure children enjoy smooth transitions as they move through the nursery.
All meals are hygienically prepared by an in-house chef using fresh produce in a well-fitted kitchen with a menu to suit all needs. Hockers Lane runs its own social calendar with regular events for parents and open days for those interested in taking up a place.
